FAQ

About Milwaukee Electronics

What does Milwaukee Electronics do?

Milwaukee Electronics is a family-owned electronics contract manufacturer founded in 1954, providing PCB assembly, box build and systems integration, engineering services, and supply chain management, from first prototype through full production.

What industries do you serve?

Medical devices, aerospace and defense, industrial and heavy equipment, IIoT, and smart home and automation products: industries with long product lives and high reliability expectations.

Where are your facilities?

Manufacturing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin (headquarters); Canby, Oregon; and Tecate, Mexico, plus an international purchasing office in Singapore and an engineering center in Satara, India.

Working With Us

What volumes do you support?

We specialize in high-mix, low-to-mid volume production and support the full range from prototypes through full-scale production runs, including variable and hard-to-forecast demand.

Can you take over production from another contract manufacturer?

Yes. We have a practiced transition process for moving builds, materials, and product knowledge from another manufacturer, or from in-house production, while keeping your line running.

Do you help with design, or only manufacturing?

Both. Our engineering services include electronic design and PCB layout, design for manufacturing (DFM), test development, design for field service, and sustaining engineering.

Do you build prototypes?

Yes, through Screaming Circuits, our rapid prototyping division, with a clear path from prototype into production at Milwaukee Electronics.

Do you offer turnkey assembly?

Yes. We support full turnkey, partial turnkey, and customer-supplied material arrangements.

Capabilities

Do you offer both SMT and through-hole assembly?

Yes, including mixed-technology boards and complex SMT down to BGA and microBGA packages, with segregated RoHS-compliant and leaded production.

Do you build complete products or just circuit boards?

Complete products. Beyond PCB assembly we provide box build, full system integration, electromechanical assembly including custom motors and coil winding, and dedicated custom manufacturing cells.

What testing do you offer?

Flying probe, in-circuit and electrical test, functional testing built around how your product operates, and new-product characterization.

Do you offer conformal coating and potting?

Yes to both, with process controls suited to electronics that face vibration, moisture, and temperature extremes.

Quality & Certifications

What certifications does Milwaukee Electronics hold?

ISO 9001:2015, ISO 13485:2016 for medical device manufacturing, and AS9100 (Milwaukee facility, with Canby in process). We are also ITAR registered.

Can you manufacture medical devices?

Yes. We manufacture under ISO 13485:2016 with lot-and-component traceability, certified operators, and support for low-volume, long-lifecycle medical products.

What traceability do you provide?

Lot and serial-level traceability down to the component. Every reel carries a standardized label tracked in both our ERP and machine software.

Supply Chain & Locations

Do you offer manufacturing in Mexico?

Yes. Our Tecate facility sits 45 minutes from San Diego, and we handle Mexico import/export logistics ourselves. You get nearshore economics without the border complexity.

How do you handle component shortages and obsolescence?

Proactively. We monitor your BOM for end-of-life risk, qualify alternatives before availability becomes a crisis, and source directly through our Singapore purchasing office.

What inventory programs do you offer?

Finished-goods kanban for variable demand, point-of-use stocking, and MRP-driven data sharing that syncs our build schedule to your real demand.

Can production move between your facilities?

Yes. Many customers start production near their development team and migrate to Tecate as their product matures, with the same quality system across facilities.
